What Independents Know

1. WHY DO WE NEED A NEW MAJOR PARTY IN AMERICA?

Truth be told:  behind the scenes, throughout the Capitol and away from the media’s glare, Democrats and Republicans get along pretty well.  They talk, eat, play golf together and attend many of the same cocktail and holiday parties.  They discuss regional issues, co-sponsor legislation and more often than not, are a part of the same small Washington clubs. Sure there are disagreements, but when it comes down to it, there are too many elected officials that have fallen vulnerable to destructive influences: the powerful lobbyists, campaign contributions and the insatiable desire to be a “player” among other powerful officials.

These forces represent the greatest challenge to the institution of government: the vortex of the nation’s Capitol is whirlpool of influence, money and power. The portrayal that policy making is often stifled by divergent beliefs between the two major parties and the three branches of government is largely a smokescreen that hides the realities of Washington’s growing institutional ineptness. Such an incestuous and destructive relationship exists between the major parties, the mainstream media, special interest groups, and high-paid lobbyists  in Washington, DC that any plans for grand reforms will fail in the midst of inter-party political posturing to maintain their comfortable status quo.

Don’t misunderstand the point:  there are many elected officials from both parties that are honorable, highly competent and are motivated to make a difference.

BUT the federal government — the system — has been compounded by so many years of mismanagement that it is critically in need of a complete overhaul. The system itself impedes change and progress.

It will take a special leader to take this system to task.

The Democrats’ roots have been sewn since Jeffersonian days, and Republicans have been major political players since Lincoln’s  1860 victory. Over time, they have weaved a tightly controlled political structure on Capitol Hill, in collusion with the wealthiest corporations in America and powerful special interest groups; and this structure is designed to keep change – and independent leadership — from breaking this stranglehold.

2. HOW DO WE FIX THIS BROKEN SYSTEM?

The American frustration with their leadership’s inability to devise and follow through on strategies to solve some of the most critical issues of our times have left people questioning what has gone wrong with the system.  We live in one of the wealthiest and free nations in the world – with some of the most innovative and creative minds in business, technology, medicine and literacy.

Independent Leadership is one answer.

3. WHAT WOULD BE THE PROTOTYPE OF AN AMERICAN INDEPENDENT IN THE WHITE HOUSE?

The idea of a Democrat or a Republican running on a platform of  “Change” as they take their cues from the establishment is, quite frankly,  an unrealistic expectation.  Nonetheless, any major party candidate running for public office must tout “change” and “reform” in their communication with the electorate, because that is undoubtedly what we, the voters, want to hear.

As independents, we believe that America’s choice for an independent President will emerge from a non-partisan grassroots with a platform to bring competent and revolutionary management principles to transforming the federal government.

The Independence Party of America seeks be the great big tent for all voters – left, right and center — and the ideal candidate will represent all constituencies.

The ideal presidential candidate will be not be beholden to special interest and political power brokers: no financing will come from major corporate or other large-scale lobbying interests whatsoever.

The ideal candidate will be an individual that has led a very successful non-political career in the private sector and can implement professional corporate-style management principles at the federal level of government.
